Buddy, the twenty-five-year-old rapper, singer, dancer and actor, has just dropped an expanded and updated version of Harlan & Alondra. Check it.

In this deluxe edition, the four new tracks add a lightness to the rapper’s debut album, which draws to a close with the seriousness of “Shine.” Whether it’s a comparative piece about a rapper’s everyday life in the office (“Cubicle”) or the life of a gangster experiencing derision (“Bad Attitude”), Buddy is no longer here to convey political messages.

We can’t help but pay attention to “Link Up,” a true all-star track with the recognizable production stylings of Thundercat and the rapper pairings of J.I.D, Bas and Buddy himself. But “It’s Love” is what stands out, once again demonstrating the soundness of the Californian rapper’s musical choices.

On an offering tinged by disco, the young artist declares his ode to love in a way that recalls what Andre 3000 achieved with The Love Below.
