Remind Me: The Classic Elektra Recordings 1978-1984 will include all of her chart hits, DJ favorites and sample sources. It has been remastered by The Carvery from the original tapes.
On July 19, Strut Records will begin a full Patrice Rushen reissue programme, focusing on her Elektra era. Amongst many other cultural achievements, the jazz pianist and renowned R&B singer wrote “Forget Me Nots,” which was then picked up by Will Smith for the 1997 film Men in Black. During the height of her career, she drew on some of the leading musicians in L.A. like saxophonist Gerald Albright and bassman Freddie Washington. The new collection will feature rare personal photos of key moments throughout her career. Listen to a cut below:
