Qwest-Tv-Ruby-Rushton-Eleven-Grapes

22a founder and flautist Tenderlonious has joined up with his group Ruby Rushton to release a teaser track for their upcoming album.

In naming their fourth LP, the Ruby Rushton group have reached back into old English lexicon. Ironside, which is due for a April 5 release, draws influence from character traits like strength, courage and fortitude for its name, while also paying homage to the Quincy Jones TV soundtrack that can be heard in traces on its first single “Eleven Grapes.”

This release follows Tenderlonious’ 2018 The Shakedown, which saw success as part of free-ranging UK jazz scene that feels intent on redefining the rules. Now, with a quartet iteration of his group behind him, Ed Cawthorne (e.g. Tenderlonius) wants to offer something that relies on stricter arrangements.

Along with Tim Carnegie (drummer), Aidan Shepherd (keys) and Nick Walters (trumpet and percussion), Cawthorne has announced exciting things to come as well as offering an appetizer in the form of “Eleven Grapes.” The track unfolds unpredictably with a spring in its step and delightful tonal shifts, listen to it here:
