In his first solo project since 2015, Theon Cross releases new material featuring Nubya Garcia and Moses Boyd.
The tuba player from Shabaka Hutching’s Sons of Kemet has once again made a foray into solo output. In 2015, he released the Aspirations EP and now he has put out “Panda Village,” on Gearbox records.
Joining him on the track are the dexterous and beguiling Moses Boyd on drums and the pure expressive energy of Nubya Garcia on Saxophone. As a trio, they have been working together on and off since 2014 and the chemistry between them feels well earned.
Ahead of a reported host of new releases, “Panda Village” marks an intriguing and exciting return for Theon Cross. His trio are yet another exciting outfit in a vibrant London jazz scene. Listen to the track here:
